Their expectations and words consume me.
will i ever be free
if i let your expectations guide me
or will i just be another
locked in a cage built of words filled with desire
they want me to be someone
who fits perfectly in their little box
their expectations have consumed me like a raging fire
burning the things that make me ‘me’
but maybe, for once, i won't sit idly
because their expectations consume me, until i’m no longer me
and they have me wondering, will i ever be free?
